Land of Twilight Transcript

Note: I am focusing on the dialogue, and as such will not be transcribing the battle objectives and such as they appear in the game. I'm also having a bit of fun with this don't take it too serious.

DRAMATIS PERSONAE

LANA: Spunky sorceress, ally of Hyrule

AGITHA: Princess of the Insect Kingdom (self-proclaimed)

MIDNA: Twilight Princess, butterfly enthusiast

CIA: Causing problems on purpose

TRANSCRIPT BEGINNING CUTSCENE

NARRATION: Lana stepped through her portal and found a jarring sight. Wherever she looked, the kingdom was consumed by shadow. Though she knew of the Twilight Realm, she had never seen it firsthand. Lana's sorcery could not reveal who or what was causing the Twilight to cover Hyrule so completely. She soon came upon a small village beset by monsters. Her mission to close the Gate of Souls would have to wait..

TRANSCRIPT BATTLE

[Several black boxes cover parts of the map.]

LANA: So this is what Hyrule looked like when Twilight invaded it... Fascinating.

LANA: With the land covered as it is, I can't really pinpiont the Gate of Souls. Always something...

HYLIAN CAPTAIN: Careful! We can hardly see the enemy through these blasted shadows.

???: Eeek! I'm in big trouble!

LANA: I just heard someone screaming! We've got to check it out!

???: Aieee! Can anyone hear me?! My name is Agitha! Someone, help!

LANA: We'll be right there! Just hold on for a minute!

HYLIAN CAPTAIN: Be on alert! The darkness is crawling with monsters!

[After reaching Agitha, a cutscene begins. Agitha is being backed into a wall by monsters, looking scared.]

VILLAGER: D-don't squish me!

VILLAGER: Arrrgh!

[Suddenly, lightning surrounds her and Lana jumps in, rescuing her.]

LANA: Close one... Are you all right?

VILLAGER: Yes! And who might you be?

LANA: I'm Lana. I'm looking for the Gate of Souls. I just... don't know where to look...

AGITHA: Gate of Souls...? Never seen one before. But I can take you right to where you want to go!

LANA: Um... How would you do that?

[Agitha procures a jar with a blue butterfly, which she releases. Little blue sparkles surround it.]

AGITHA: With this Goddess Butterfly, of course! It will guide us through the Twilight Realm.

[The butterfly begins to fly away as Lana and Agitha stare at it. The cutscene ends.]

AGITHA: Li'l Miss Butterfly says we should go this way! C'mon! We mustn't tardy!

CIA: So, you've chased me all the way here? Fine. It'd be rude of me not to play with you then!

[The Central Keep opens. Skilled Summoners in the Central Keep prepare to summon a powerful Aeralfos.]

HYLIAN CAPTAIN: Those monsters are up to something. They might be trying to sneak into our base!

[After the Skilled Summoner summons the powerful Aeralfos.]

HYLIAN CAPTAIN: The Central Keep appears to have opened. Seems suspicious... Be careful!

LANA: It's hard to fight with this Twilight covering us... We have to get rid of it somehow!

[You escort Agitha to the marked location on the map as she follows the Goddess Butterfly. You enter one of the Twilight covered areas, and find yourselves before a locked keep.]

AGITHA: The doors are locked... But that's no problem! I can handle this!

[Agitha opens the Outskirts Keep gate.]

AGITHA: Tee hee! A pair of termites once taught me that little door-opening trick!

LANA: The interior of the keep is also covered in darkness... Is it part of the Twilight too?

AGITHA: Li'l Butterfly is getting scared... I think the darkness in this keep needs to go!

[After capturing the Outskirts Keep, the Twilight is dispelled.]

AGITHA: Aww, Li'l Butterfly is happy now! Look -- she's leading us again!

LANA: Aha! Capturing a keep in the Twilight clears it right up! That's good to know!

LANA: I guess that means we've got some keeps to capture!

[After successfully escorting Agitha to her destination, a cutscene begins. Lana and a group of Hylian soldiers are running after the butterfly, but are stopped by a group of monsters barring their way. The group parts to reveal Midna, in imp form. She captures the butterfly in a glowing blue orb.]

LANA: Let it go! That insect is important!

MIDNA: Why? So it can fly around and spread poison on my forces!

LANA: What?

[Agitha pushes past the soldiers to reach the front of the group.]

AGITHA: Actually, the butterfly you see is not of a poisonous genus, I can assure you!

Midna, confused: Genus...?

AGITHA: This is a Goddess Butterfly. If you ask it kindly, it will guide you anywhere you want to go. Isn't that nice?

MIDNA: Guide me anywhere, huh?

MIDNA: Hey! Butterfly! Take me to that ugly witch!

[The butterfly flies off, with Midna following it. The group of monsters stays, barring the way.]

AGITHA: Oh my... Whatever should we do?

LANA: Guess we'll just have to fight it out.

[Cutscene ends.]

MIDNA: I'll take care of that black witch! Underlings! Hold them back!

AGITHA: Oh no! Li'l Butterfly, come back! That angry kitty just drove Li'l Miss Butterfly away!

LANA: I'll get the butterfly back, Agitha, you need to get back to the village for now.

AGITHA: Well, OK... Please keep Li'l Butterfly safe!

[Agitha retreats to Kakariko Village.]

CIA: Do I hear some mangy stray caterwauling about me? Then maybe it needs a playmate!

CIA: Why don't you go in my stead and that... ugh, thing... a taste of fun?

[Dark Forces begin attacking Midna's Forces.]

HYLIAN CAPTAIN: Things are getting chaotic out here! Take the enemy outsposts and stop the reinforcements!

HYLIAN CAPTAIN: Our base is under attack! We need someone to defend it!

[After defeating all Aeralfos captains.]

LANA: Phew... Hopefully this'll get the enemy to chill out for a while.

[After Midna reaches the Sorceress Keep and Cia.]

MIDNA: THERE! Found you! Dispel the curse you placed on me before I claw your eyes out!

CIA: Don't you look cute! Well, I must be off. Let's pick this up some other time. Tah!

[Cia leaves the battlefield.]

MIDNA: Are you kidding?! She escaped because you got in my way! Are you on her side?!

[Midna begins to battle the Hyrulean Forces.]

LANA: Wait! We're not enemies! I just came to get that butterfly back!

MIDNA: Hush! I'm in no mood to talk about insects!

LANA: Fine. I didn't want to fight you, but I need that butterfly and I don't have time to talk.

[Mission changes to 'Defeat Midna'. Agitha begins searching for Midna. Darknuts begin approaching her.]

AGITHA: I simply couldn't sit around doing nothing! I'm going to get Li'l Butterfly back now!

MIDNA: I'm not handing this butterfly over without a fight! Someone, stop that girl!

LANA: Dang it, I told her to stay in the village. Ugh, fine. I can't leave her alone out there.

[After capturing the East Field Keep, the Twilight Realm dispells in the area and Midna's power decreases.]

MIDNA: What? Where'd my power go? Is someone closing off patches of Twilight?

LANA: Aha! I knew it! Shutting down sources of Twilight makes her a pushover!

[After reducing Midna to half health, she stops losing health.]

LANA: Man, she's a lot stronger than I thought! I don't think I can take her in a fair fight.

MIDNA: I'm a lot stronger when I'm within Twilight. Just one of the perks of being a Twili.

MIDNA: Great. I've got no choice but to withdraw for now. I just need a few minutes...

[Midna retreats to the Bridge Keep, which opens.]

AGITHA: Capture the kitty! She still has Li'l Miss Butterfly!

MIDNA: Why can't you just leave me alone? Ugh. Fine! If you want a fight, let's do this!

MIDNA: I'm still lacking a bit of something... Increase the Twilight's power!

[Keep Saboteurs appear.]

LANA: The more Twilight that spreads across the battlefield, the stronger that imp gets!

AGITHA: I think we should stop that mean enemy headed for the keep then!

LANA, thinking: Maybe if I can take the Twilight Keeps, her power will weaken...

LANA: Wait -- did you create the shadows here? Because it's spawning monsters everywhere!

[After the Darknuts reduce Agitha's health enough, you get the message 'Agitha is fleeing!']

LANA: We need that girl's help to get through the Twilight... Protect her with your life!

[After defeating the Darknuts and rescuing Agitha.]

LANA: Don't worry, Agitha. I'll get your butterfly back. You just wait in the village, OK?

AGITHA: Oh, that's so kind of you! OK, I'll wait right here.

[Agitha retreats to Kakariko Village again.]

[After defeating all Keep Saboteurs.]

AGITHA: Hooray! We can finally rest a little bit!

[After defeating Midna, the battle ends.]

MIDNA: I've been completely beaten. All right then, do your worst to me...

AGITHA: Oh, Miss Kitty, please? Pretty please, can you give back my friend, Li'l Butterfly?

MIDNA: Fine, take the butterfly, but... Wait. You're not with the witch?

LANA: No. Completely the opposite. We're heading to the Gate of Souls to try to stop her.

MIDNA: You should have led with that! She and I still have some unfinished business.
