The Shadow King Transcript

Note: I am focusing on the dialogue, and as such will not be transcribing the battle objectives and such as they appear in the game. I'm also having a bit of fun with this don't take it too serious.

DRAMATIS PERSONAE

LANA: Spunky sorceress, ally of Hyrule

AGITHA: Civilian, still here for some reason?

MIDNA: Twilight Princess

ZANT: Usurper King of the Twilight Realm, least dignified guy in the game

CIA: Did not actually turn Midna into an imp but sorta went along with it anyway?

TRANSCRIPT BEGINNING CUTSCENE

NARRATION: Lana had saved an unusual girl named Agitha from the Twilight. To thank Lana for her rescue, Agitha gave her a Goddess Butterfly, an insect that could guide her wherever she wished to go. A curious Twili named Midna also joined the party for reasons of her own. The heroes followed the Goddess Butterfly, eventually arriving at the Palace of Twilight. There they met a terrible foe. It was Zant, the Usurper King of the Twilight Realm. Lana and Midna would have to overcome his unnatural powers to complete their task.

END TRANSCRIPT BEGINNING CUTSCENE

TRANSCRIPT BATTLE

LANA: The Gate of Souls is in the back of the palace. Let's defeat the one guarding it and close it!

LANA: I'll protect the base, but I'll need your help if things get rough!

AGITHA: So... guard the base and fight alongside the commander... OK! I won't let you down!

LANA: We should go to the east first and capture the enemy keeps. Ready? Let's go!

AGITHA: I'll do my best!

[Agitha begins moving toward the Lower Level East Keep. Zant's Forces begin to advance toward the Allied Base.]

ZANT: Foolish Midna... Allow me to entomb you. May the Twilight scatter my foes!

MIDNA: Zant? What's that traitor doing protecting the Gate of Souls?

[If you take too long to capture Lower Level East.]

LANA: Oh, come on! Hurry and capture the Eastern Keep! You didn't get distracted, did you?

[After capturing Lower Level East.]

ZANT: The time is nigh... Demolish the bridges! Cut them off from their base!

[Two bridges collapse, creating one-way streets, cutting off the Lower and Upper Level East Keeps from the rest of the map.]

LANA: The bridge is down, but don't worry about it! You just focus on getting that keep!

AGITHA: So... just keep fighting? OK! Chaaaarge!

LANA: Midna, are you friends with that eccentric person in the freaky mask?

MIDNA: Friends? Ha! That's Zant, the traitor who stole my throne in the Twilight Realm!

[After capturing Upper Level East, a chest appears in the keep.]

AGITHA: Oh goody! My team has captured the East Palace Keep!

MIDNA: A chest? Heh, don't mind if I do...

MIDNA: Huh? We control the keep, but the gate won't budge! Guess we need an alternate route...

AGITHA: But the bridge we used is out now! What are we going to do? Hmmm...

[Argorok appears above the West Square keep and begins a fireball attack on the Allied Base.]

ZANT: None shall set foot near the Gate of Souls! The Twilight King commands it!

LANA: We're being attacked from the air! How are we supposed to combat that...?

MIDNA: Hey, get down here! No fair flying where we can't kill you!

AGITHA: Mister Dragon sure likes to fly way up there! I wish there was some way to reach him...

[The chest in Upper Level East contains a hookshoot.]

MIDNA: It's an item that lets you cross gaps? Huh. Convenient. Back to the fallen bridge!

[After grappling across the fallen bridge, you can access the rest of the map again.]

LANA: We'll have to use magic if we want to damage the dragon in midflight!

LANA: I'll create a Magic Circle in the keep underneath the dragon! Buy some time!

[Lana begins advancing to the West Square. Zant's Forces open the Upper Level East and begin advancing toward Agitha.]

MIDNA: Will you dainty little flowers be OK without me holding your hands on the front lines?

AGITHA: Our friends are doing everything they can, so I'd better do everything I can too!

ZANT: How wonderful! Our enemy's base has thinned out! Send reinforcements and crush it!

[Zant's Forces begin to march toward the Allied Base.]

LANA: He struck when I was gone! Darn! I need to finish that Magic Circle immediately...

[After capturing the West Square, Lana creates a Magic Circle.]

LANA: The Magic Circle is finished! Use it to really give that dragon something to roar about!

[After using the Magic Circle, a short cutscene plays showing purple magic chains pulling at and enveloping Argorok, driving it off.]

LANA: Wonderful! I hope that's the last we'll hear from our friend the dragon...

ZANT: You may have chased away Argorok, but my plan doesn't end there! Oh no!

ZANT: Witness the Twilight King's next stratagem! Capture the enemy commanders!

[Two Commandos appear and begin advancing toward Agitha.]

AGITHA: Oh? The baddies are running right up to me! Do they want to talk?

LANA: Oh no, they're trying to take Agitha! Keep the monsters away from her!

[If a Commando comes close enough to Agitha.]

AGITHA: Hey, what do you think you're doing?!

[After defeating both Commandos.]

AGITHA: Whatever is the matter? That baddie invited me to a tea party! Has it been canceled?

[The West Palace opens. Assault Troops appear and begin advancing toward the Allied Base.]

LANA: That dragon wounded our friends at the Allied Base! We can't let the base fall!

[If Zant's Forces enter the Allied Base.]

LANA: We need to get back, or the base is in trouble!

[If the Assault Troops are allowed to enter the Allied Base.]

LANA: Oh no! If we don't do something fast, our base is done for!

[If the Allied Base has half its health depleted.]

LANA: We've got enemies swarming the base! Someone defend it!

[If the Allied Base's health gets low enough for it to be in danger.]

LANA: Our base is on the brink of falling! It needs someone to defend it immediately!

[If you successfully stop the Assault Troops before they reach the Allied Base.]

LANA: Wow, looks like we did it somehow.

[Argorok reappears in the Central Square.]

ZANT: Ah, your wounds appear to have healed... Good. Now strike their base again!

MIDNA: Not the dragon again... Grrr! I'm so sick of it!

LANA: The Magic Circles are key! Capture the keep that's directly below the dragon!

MIDNA: Same plan as last time? Too easy?

[Argorok begins an attack a fireball attack on the Allied Base.]

LANA: It wants to attack the base again... We have to hit it hard and hit it fast!

[Three Keep Saboteurs appear.]

ZANT: Go! Reclaim our keeps! Do it for your one and rightful king!

MIDNA: I don't think so! Don't let the enemy take ANYTHING back! Shut them down!

AGITHA: Were you talking to me? Oh! Then I'd better help, hadn't I? Ha ha, OK!

[You can now play as Agitha.]

[After defeating all Keep Saboteurs.]

AGITHA: Hee hee! I'm ever so happy to have helped!

[After establishing the Magic Circle.]

LANA: The Magic Circle is ready! Make this one really count!

MIDNA: Good! Now, can you handle capturing the other keep in the north?

[After using the Magic Circle, the same cutscene as before plays and Argorok is driven off.]

MIDNA: It got away again?!

LANA: Hmm... If we want to slay the dragon, we have to bring it down to our level...

[A faction of Zant's Forces begins advancing toward Agitha.]

ZANT: Such brazenness from that little girl... She offends me! Someone! Take care of her!

[Argorok reappears and begins a fireball attack on the Allied Base.]

LANA: Third time, huh? Haaaa... How many times will we have to go through this?

AGITHA: We drive him off, and he comes right back... He's just as stubborn as some flies I know!

LANA, thinking: The Magic Circle doesn't seem to have the effect we want, but what else can we do?

AGITHA: Li'l Butterfly has something to say! Yes? Hmmm... She wants to lead us somewhere!

LANA: Let's just follow the butterfly to the building in the southeast! Trust it knows something!

LANA: A Magic Circle in the Fairy Fountain... That should help us take down Argorok!

ZANT: Strike alongside Argorok! Make them draw their last ragged breaths!

[After using the Magic Circle in the Fairy Fountain, a cutscene plays. A Great Fairy appears from the fountain, summoning the same purple chains Lana had earlier, which reach for Argorok but are easily shaken off. A single purple chain then reaches in the direction of Argorok, but flies past it, instead pulling the moon (Majora's Mask Edition) from the sky. The moon's nose hits Argorok and forces it to crash into the ground. After, the moon dissipates into a swarm of fairies.]

LANA: Look! The magic attack worked! We should be able to hit the dragon with normal attacks!

ZANT: How did they manage to pull Argorok down to their level?!

ZANT: I'll lead you myself if I have to! Charge! Your king will show you how it's done!

[The Enemy Base opens and Zant begins advancing toward the Allied Base.]

LANA: We just need to defeat Argorok and Zant... Hey, that won't be too hard, right?

MIDNA: We'll defeat that thing for sure this time! Everyone, gather near Argorok!

[After defeating Argorok.]

LANA: Yes! Nice work everyone!

[After defeating Zant.]

ZANT: You... worthless... wretches... I am the Twilight King! I will not be mocked by yooooooou!

LANA: You are a product of your own greed... You and Cia both.

[After defeating both Zant and Argorok, the battle ends.]

LANA: Yes! Nice work, everyone!

LANA: We cleared out anyone in our way! Now let's seal the Gate of Souls!

END TRANSCRIPT BATTLE

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT ENDING CUTSCENE

[A 3D animated cutscene plays. Lana and Midna stand before the Gate of Souls. Lana seals it with a glowing magic array. She and Midna look relieved for a second, until they hear Cia appear behind them.]

CIA: Lana? Whatever are you doing here?

LANA: Cia--!

[Midna frantically points at Cia.]

MIDNA: She's the one! I'm cursed to look like this because of HER!

CIA: Well, if I may say, that looks suits you. Quite fitting for a big-headed princess of Twilight...

MIDNA: You--!

[Midna punches Cia, throwing Cia back and knocking the mask off her face.]

CIA: Aaaargh!

[Cia holds her face with one hand, looking angry. The camera focuses on her face, then shows Midna's shocked expression. It focuses on Lana's face, then shows Midna frantically looking between Lana and Cia. Lana and Cia's faces are identical, which would be more shocking if they didn't both look like generic anime girls.]

CIA: Haaaa...

[Cia disappears in a puff of purple smoke.]

MIDNA: Lana, her face... It looks just like yours...

[Lana looks conflicted, but steels herself.]

LANA: I am Cia's... other half. She and I were once the same person.

MIDNA: WHAT?!
